Quasistatic model for foam fractionation

چکیده
A simple model is presented for foam fractionation. The basis of the that liquid fraction profile across column known quasistatically at any instant in time, and only varies gradually as height itself varies. Using suitable boundary conditions, provides a relation between flux through instantaneous height. surface active material can then also be determined. makes it possible to explore how design operational parameters fractionation system influence performance. Indeed clarifies tall columns enrich surfactant, but high velocities air are detrimental enrichment. Having larger bubbles helps enrichment though, despite reducing specific area thereby total amount adsorbed.

Riser Design in Foam Fractionation
The growth of biotechnology has led to renewed interest in the possibility of enriching valuable bioproducts using foam fractionation. This is a separation process in which surface active molecules are separated from a solution by sparging through bubbles of gas. Adsorption of such molecules at the gas/liquid interface causes enrichment in the foam formed above the liquid pool. Previous work ha...
متن کاملIrregular lattice model for quasistatic crack propagation
An irregular lattice model is proposed for simulating quasistatic fracture in softening materials. Lattice elements are defined on the edges of a Delaunay tessellation of the medium. The dual sVoronoid tessellation is used to scale the elemental stiffness terms in a manner that renders the lattice elastically homogeneous. This property enables the accurate modeling of heterogeneity, as demonstr...
متن کاملFoam Fractionation as a Means to Recover and Fractionate Bioactives
In this research, the optimum conditions for the separation of polyphenols from apple juice (AJ) and the separation of BSA from a BSA/water solution were found by looking at the enrichment ratio (ER) and recovery. A mixture of the AJ and BSA was also studied to see how the different conditions affect separation of either compound. For AJ only, maximum ER was achieved at a feed concentration of ...
متن کاملRemoval of Mercury by Foam Fractionation Using Surfactin, a Biosurfactant
The separation of mercury ions from artificially contaminated water by the foam fractionation process using a biosurfactant (surfactin) and chemical surfactants (SDS and Tween-80) was investigated in this study. Parameters such as surfactant and mercury concentration, pH, foam volume, and digestion time were varied and their effects on the efficiency of mercury removal were investigated. The re...
